Bruce Bay beach is a lovely beach to walk on. On a clear day you can view Mt Cook and in the evening you can see the colours changing on Mt Cook from the setting sun. Great to do after dinner.
Across the Mahitahi River you can walk the south side of Bruce Bay beach. A beautiful flat and sandy beach showcasing a lot of history of the original European and Maori settlements. At certain times of the year you can see the Fiordland Crested penguins too. Note that access across the river is by boat or kayak and, as it takes a few hours, you need to stay at least two nights with us.
Copland Track or Karangarua Track to the north of here are other tracks available that we recommend. Can take as long or short as you like.
Monroe Beach and the Cattle Track to the south are also good walks as well.
